During a career with Armstrong World Industries and Interface Solutions Inc. that began in 1972, Terry N. Sommer has served in several pivotal positions. His resume includes such noteworthy tenures as vice president of operations at Pacific World Wholesale, a carpet distribution subsidiary, and positions in corporate finance, during which time he earned his certificate in management accounting. Mr. Sommer then became vice president of accounting at Forms + Surfaces, an Armstrong subsidiary. In 1994, he moved to England where he was general manager of finance for Building Products Operations (BPO) in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He returned to corporate headquarters in Lancaster, Pa., in 1998 as senior financial analyst, and was named Interface Solutions Inc.’s vice president and controller in 1999. Mr. Sommer earned a bachelor’s of science degree in finance in 1967 and a master’s of business administration in 1968, both from Lehigh University. He then served his country by earning a commission in the U.S. Army and completing a three year tour in Germany. |
